We played our get out of jail card once again when we came from 6pts.down with 8 mins.plus stopage left on the clock to win by 2pts.in the 1st.rnd.of the Co.Intermediate Hurling C/ship.on Sunday the 3rd.June last.In a tough and fast paced 1st.half we just about managed to hang on to our opponents coat tails and went in at the short whistle behind on a scoreline of 11pts.to 5pts.The half time talk had the desired effect on the lads when in the space of 10 mins of the 2nd.half we had cut Barryroe's lead to a single pt.worryingly we had 6 wides in this period also,sensing this Barryroe upped the anti once more and duly fired over the next 5 pts.without reply to lead once again by 6 and to be fair to them were looking odds on to take the victory at this juncture but as often in the past our lads had different idea's and when a harmless enough looking strike from 80mtrs.out by Niall Griffin deceived the Barryroe keeper and when Podge Butler added a 2nd goal with a fantastic overhead pull a min.later it was game on again and with our tails up we went in search of the win and were duly rewarded when Paudie McMahon from play and Ger.O Leary from a 65.fired over 2 points we closed out the game to record a fortunate but deserved victory.When one considers that we finished up with 5 Minors on the field of play with 4 of them Minor again next year add to this 2 19 yr.olds and a 20 yr.old on the starting 15 it makes the victory all the more encourageing for the Club going forward.We now find ourselves in rnd.4 as a result of this win and look forward to the draw for same with much optimism this is not due to be played until 28th/29th of July at the earliest and with 4/5 of our more seasoned campaigners due to return to the playing fields over the next couple of weeks who weren't available for the 1st.rnd.for various reasons the management will have a tough job sorting out a panel not to mind a Team for the next rnd.
